INDEPENDENT HOW-TO GUIDE
What to do when a government portal is slow or unavailable
Safe checks to make when an official service loads slowly, fails to open or repeatedly returns an error.
A slow or unavailable government website may reflect connection, browser or service-side issues. AGI cannot repair the agency’s website or confirm an outage; this guide explains how to avoid making the problem worse while you check official channels.
01
Before you begin
- Know which agency operates the service and use its official starting page.
- If you started an application or payment, keep the reference shown so far and avoid repeating the same action while its status is uncertain.
02
Steps to follow
- Check whether your connection works elsewhereOpen another trusted website to distinguish a general connection problem from a single-site problem.
- Start from the official agency homepageUse the agency’s published homepage and follow its service links instead of repeatedly reopening a deep link.
- Make one careful browser checkTry an up-to-date browser or another connection if available. Do not clear site data if that might remove an active login or unsaved form.
- Do not repeat a submission or paymentIf a form or payment may already have gone through, check its reference or transaction status before trying again.
- Check official notices or contact the agencyIf the site remains slow or unavailable, wait and retry later or use the contact route published by the responsible agency.

Important notes
- AGI cannot speed up, repair or verify the internal availability of a government system.
- Repeated refreshes during a submission or payment can create uncertainty about whether the action completed.
- Do not use an unofficial mirror or agent claiming it can bypass a slow government portal.
