INDEPENDENT HOW-TO GUIDE
What to do when a government application has no confirmation or reference
Checks to make when you submit a form but do not see a confirmation message or reference number.
A missing confirmation does not by itself prove that the application failed. Avoid submitting again until you have checked the official record and instructions for the service.
01
Before you begin
- Note the approximate submission time and keep any confirmation page or non-sensitive error text.
- Do not share identity documents, passwords or one-time codes in an attempt to get informal help.
02
Steps to follow
- Check the application dashboardSign in through the official portal and look for a draft, submitted application or status record.
- Check your registered email or SMSLook for a receipt or reference sent by the service, including the spam folder for email.
- Avoid submitting a duplicate applicationIf an application may already exist, use the portal’s instructions to check its status first.
- Keep evidence of the attemptSave the date, time and the error message if one appeared, without sharing confidential account information publicly.
- Ask the responsible agency for guidanceUse the official contact route if no record appears or the portal does not explain the next step.
03
Important notes
- Different agencies handle incomplete drafts and submitted applications differently; follow the instructions for the specific service.
- AGI cannot see application records or generate a government reference number.
