Find KRA PIN recovery guidance

Recover a forgotten KRA PIN, find your PIN certificate, or reset iTax access using KRA’s official channels.

A forgotten KRA PIN number and a forgotten iTax password are different problems. Start with the route that matches your issue, using KRA’s current PIN-retrieval and account-support instructions.

01

Before you begin

  • Identify what you need: the PIN number, a copy of the PIN certificate, or access to your iTax account.
  • Use only KRA’s official service pages and contact channels. Never share your password or one-time codes with anyone.
02

Steps to follow

  1. Identify the problemIf you have forgotten the PIN number itself, use KRA’s PIN-retrieval service. If you know your PIN but cannot sign in, follow the password-recovery route instead.
  2. Open KRA’s current PIN-retrieval guidanceOn KRA’s official guides page, find “How to Retrieve Your KRA PIN via *222*5#” and check the latest instructions.
  3. Retrieve the PIN through the listed serviceDial *222*5# and follow the prompts for PIN retrieval. Use the options shown by the service; do not rely on an unofficial menu or message.
  4. If you need the PIN certificateUse KRA’s own PIN guidance to find the current way to obtain or print your certificate. Retrieving the PIN number and downloading the certificate are not necessarily the same task.
  5. If you forgot your iTax passwordOpen the official iTax portal, choose “Forgot Password” on the sign-in page, and follow the security-question instructions. KRA says new login credentials are sent to the email registered on iTax.
  6. If recovery still failsIf you have forgotten your security question or cannot access the registered email, follow the support options in KRA’s PIN FAQ. Never share your password or one-time codes with anyone.
